REVIEW OF NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION AFTER DISASTERS IN JAPAN MAY 12, 2011
Nuclear Regulatory Commission
The Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) established a task force to review U.S. nuclear plant regulations in the wake of the Japanese Nuclear accident at the Fukushima Daiichi plant. Documents released in advance of the meeting indicated that the task force believed U.S. nuclear plants had good emergency procedures and remained safe. The meeting came days after theNew York Times reported that some critics of the NRC believed it had too close of a relationship with the nuclear industry. This was a preliminary meeting, and the task force's final report to the commission was due in July.
