Michael Benjamin I applaud her, but why "assault weapons" when those most used in gun homicides/crimes are of the handgun variety? Could Washington be, dum dum dummmm, using this issue for political reasons yet again?

Katherine Lopez Wow, if Gabby Giffords wrote this in her own hand, she is doing much better than I realized. God bless her and I hope she continues healing.
Kandee Sabo I agree with Senator Durbin's remark that there should have been hearings like this after the shooting that injured her so grievously. And what if there had been, would there have been universal background checks already in place? would there be better mental health screening that would have come to the aid of Adam Lanza
