This is a big deal for some as yet undetermined reason.

If you find these photos disgusting, then you better go ask your moms if they breastfeed you as infants.   Everybody has been pushing breastfeeding as natural, healthy, and can be thought of another form of contraceptives .  The article below you can finish reading by clicking the title, the links below will take you to alternative birth control while breastfeeding.
My two cents worth.......

Breastfeeding and Birth Control

As long as the nursing mother is exclusively breastfeeding, (nursing frequently day and night with no supplemental feedings), the baby is younger than 6 months of age, and the mother has not started having periods, she is more than 98% protected against pregnancy. This period of exclusive nursing means not only no supplemental feedings of water or formula, but also little or no pacifier use. All of the baby’s sucking needs are met at the breast, which means demand feedings around the clock. As long as the mother has had no vaginal bleeding after 56 days postpartum, and the baby receives no supplemental feeds, she has only about a 2% chance of becoming pregnant (this compares to the combined birth control pill, which is about 98%-99% effective if taken every day without missing a dose).
It is important to understand that as soon as there is a decline in breastfeeding, due to the baby eating supplemental feedings or nursing less often, the contraceptive protection decreases, and other methods should be considered.
Fertility is most effectively suppressed when the baby goes no longer than 4 hours during.....

Birth Control While Breastfeeding

Air National Guard members Terran Echegoyen-McCabe (L) and Christina Luna (R) have drawn a lot of attention, including scorn, for these photos in which they're breastfeeding while in uniform.
The seemingly harmless photos were posted on the Facebook page of breastfeeding support group Mom2Mom, and the reaction was overwhelming. While most supported the two women, a vocal minority claimed the photos were disrespectful to the uniform.
There are no rules in military conduct against breastfeeding in uniform and the moms say they do this all the time on Fairchild Airforce Base in Spokane, Washington. Mom2Mom were forced to issue a statement saying they support the troops and are in no way attempting to exploit or disparage the military.
