Louisiana School Psychologist: ‘Young Black Thugs Who Won’t Follow the Law Need to Be Put Down’
The Jefferson Parish School Board has been under fire recently: civil rights organization Southern Poverty Law Center filed a complaint alleging that the school system "sends a disproportionate number of black and disabled students to alternative schools to languish for months." Now the group is targeting Jefferson Parish for employing a school psychologist who has posted a slew of racially charged comments online.Mark Traina works with the same alternative schools to which so many black and disabled students have been relegated. On his Twitter account, Traina says his interests are "politics, the economy, reading and expressing [his] opinion." But his opinions are especially problematic given the fact that he's one of the people responsible for placing students in alternative schools.
His comments on the Trayvon Martin case are about what you'd expect: "Zimmerman was the real victim and he held his ground!" and "Zimmerman was attacked and he simply defended himself."

But it's some of his earlier tweets that may prove the most damaging. In January, he went on a tirade against "young black thugs." Some of the highlights include "ANOTHER YOUNG BLACK MALE THUG-NEEDS TO DIE-I PRAY THAT THE VICTIMS FRIENDS GET TO HIM 1ST. SO THE POLICE WON'T HAVE TO KILL HIM," "We are faced with a young Black Army of Thugs who have declared War on the American Way of Life-Holding America Hostage as we speak," and "Young Black Thugs who won't follow the law need to be put down not incarcerated. Put down like the Dogs they are!"
According to another tweet, "Mark a. Traina is an American Civil Rights Activist who unlike Jessie Jackson and Al Sharpton represents all Americans." Perhaps we're simply misreading this civil rights activist's intentions?
Traina has responded to the allegations in comment threads on NOLA.com.
This is just another way to harass the Jefferson Parish Public School System. One only needs to read the Times Picayune to see who the real trouble makers are. Sadly, it is disproportionately young black males. Everyone knows that our jails throughout the United States are disproportionately filled with black people. Why would the rate be any different in an educational environment?In the rallying cry of racists everywhere, Traina added, "Everything I said is fact-based, backed up by data. I don't have a prejudiced bone in my body. I'm not a racist. I'm a realist."
School superintendent James Meza said that he learned about the Traina complaint today, and that they will begin an investigation. In response to the Southern Poverty Law Center's repeated allegations, the U.S. Department of Education's office of civil rights will be sending representatives to the Jefferson Parish school system this week.

STATISTICS:
FACT: More than 900,000 black people are incarcerated according to the U.S. Bureau of Justice. African Americans make up 13.6 percent of the U.S. population according to census data, but black men reportedly make up 40.2 percent of all prison inmates. Sadly, this is more that four times the rate that it should be for black people.
FACT: More black men are behind bars or under the watch of the criminal justice system today than there were enslaved back in the 1850’s.
FACT: Tens of thousands of young black males are arrested across the United States annually for engaging in such activities as disturbing the peace, trespassing, drug possession and distribution, robbery and murder.
FACT: Black women are more than 3.5-times more likely to be incarcerated than white women.
FACT: The MOST dangerous and drug infested neighborhoods in America are all located in run down urban areas where the population consists mostly of black people.
FACT: Most of the violent crimes committed in the greater New Orleans area are committed by young black males.
FACT: You would have to be dumb, blind or really REALLY STUPID not to be able to see this trend.
FACT: Even one of the best known Civil Rights Activists in America recently indicated (I won’t mention any names) that it is MUCH safer to walk through a predominately white neighborhood after dark than in black neighborhood.
FACT: Anyone who does not believe the previous statement to be true should take a long walk through the ninth ward tonight about midnight.

THE SAD TRUTH-The Killing Mentality that encompasses the City of New Orleans is NEVER going to get better. The Sad Truth is things are only going to get worst. As I have said many times before I ain't no Rocket Scientist, but I am fairly well educated in the areas of Economics, History, Sociology and Psychology. I also grew up in the City of New Orleans and moved back to the city after graduating from college. New Orleans began to unravel back in the late 1960's and early 70's. Crime in the city reached a feverish pitch in the late 1980's. The biggest problems facing the city back in those days was too many kids dropping out of school, too many single parent homes, too much poverty, not enough well-paying jobs, too many criminals walking the streets, too many people living on Welfare, too many people residing in government subsidized housing units and too many people hooked on alcohol, cigarettes and drugs. Sadly, those are all the exact same things that are occurring in the city today! There you have it New Orleans continues to be a recipe for disaster!

Far too many Students come to school in the Greater New Orleans Area hungry, tired and angry. Far too many Students in the Greater New Orleans Area come from dysfunctional single Parent or Grandparent run homes. Far too many Students in the Greater New Orleans Area come from homes with literate parents. On an even sadder note, far too many Students in the Greater New Orleans Area have been negatively impacted by the Crime Wave that plaguing the entire United States of America.
DeleteFar too many Students in this area have siblings and other family members who have been incarcerated and/or killed. Violence, Drugs and Gang activity and involvement is the order of the day in the Greater New Orleans Area.
Unbelievably, Teachers in the Greater New Orleans Area, as well as, in Baton Rouge, Lafayette and all over northeast Louisiana are being blamed for producing bad Products. The simple Truth is that it is not always the Teachers' fault as to why Little Johnny can read. Little Johnny may not be able to read because Little Johnny is hungry, exhausted or upset about something that happen at home the night before or on his way to school this morning. We as a nation need to STOP blaming Teachers for everything that going bad in the classroom.
Obviously, there are some weak Teachers out there and a few that should have chosen another profession. However, I am willing to bet anyone who is willing to make a small wager, that I can show you 10 bad Parents for every weak Teacher.
The saddest thing about this whole situation is that Teachers are not even allowed to defend themselves against most of the totally false allegations that are being leveled against them by Parents, the Southern Poverty Law Center and the Lying Liberal Media.
In Truth, learning must begin in the home for it to be carried over into the school. In order for Children to learn, they must feel safe, secure and loved. Parents and immediate family members must serve as appropriate role models for Children. Children must also be taught discipline, patience, honesty, respect for authority and personal responsibility in their homes! When I say personal responsibility I am talking about giving Children chores such as learning how to pick up after themselves. Additionally, a child's activities should be very closely monitored in the home, as well as, in the community. The very best place to take any Child is to Church so that he or she can be taught about GOD's Love for U.S.
FACT: If family members lie, steal and cheat, then you can expect those Children to exhibit those very same behaviors. Kids come to U.S. like clean sheets of paper. We as parents, family members and guardians need to be very careful about what we write on those pretty white sheets.

Most of the �I Need a Self-Contained Classers� are non-readers, non-mathematicians, and some of these students are very seriously emotionally disturbed. Please take note that I did not say Severely Mentally and/or Medically Impaired, because MOST of those Students were never placed into fully included Regular Education Classes in the first place and rightfully so. I am specifically talking about the �I Need To Be In a Self-Contained Classers�, which is a group of seriously mentally and emotionally challenged Students. These are Students with stark problems that range from mild to moderate academic and cognitive deficits, as well as, severe social, emotional and behavioral problems. Sadly, most of these Students come from extremely dysfunctional homes and they are often neglected. Many of these Students suffer from chronic and historically untreated medical and mental health problems.
The last group of students we will discuss are often referred to by Professional Educators as the �Crazy Checkers� or �Thug Lifers�! Ultra Conservative Educators prefer to call this group the �Entitlementers�. But, no matter what you call them this a really effed up bunch of Bananas. Most of these Students are actually capable of getting a High School Diploma, attending college and being successful if life, however they are the ones who are being paid monthly by the State and Federal Government through the Social Security Office of Disability Determinations to act retarded, disrupt the class and beat the living hell out of just about anyone and/or anything that happens to get into their way. Obviously, this is a very hedonistic bunch of rotten Bananas. Sadly, these kids often come from extremely impoverished dysfunctional families that have historically lived off the Federal Government through State and Federal Entitlement Programs. These Students have the Special Education Right of Passage to do as they please on publicly funded school campuses throughout America. To make matters MUCH worse than they already are �Crazy Checkers�, �Thug Lifers� and �Entitlementers� have the Lily White Lying Liberal Media, the Southern Poverty Law Center, Reverend�s Al Sharpton and Jessie Jackson to back them up. God forbid that anyone would dare to violate one of these little sum bitches civil rights.

It doesn�t matter what kind crappy materials they give us to work with, we are expected to turn out good products. Students show up for school every day tired, hungry and agitated. In 2010, 358,600 U.S. students were assaulted on public school campuses, sadly over 91,000 of these students� sustained �serious bodily injuries!� During that same time period 276,700 public school teachers, administrators and school support personnel had been threatened with injury by one or more of their students. 145,100 public school teachers, administrators and school support personnel had been physically attacked by students enrolled in their schools.
We as educators need to STOP accepting the blame for falling standardized test scores, disruptive, disrespectful and disinterested students. I know that this is going to sound completely insane. Unfortunately, in the United States we seem to have a lot of things �ack basswords.� Would you believe that if a child misbehaves in school his or her parents may actually receive large monthly payments from the State and Federal Government through the Social Security Office of Disability Determinations? It�s called the �crazy check.�
What a profitable �cash cow� for some families. Did you know that the more a child misbehaves in school the greater the chances of him or her qualifying for the disability benefits? If the child is evaluated and lucky enough to be placed into special education, his or her chances of qualifying for Social Security benefits increases exponentially. Can you believe that the U.S. Government will actually give money to parents if their children cause disturbances in schools?
Sadly, there have been numerous cases throughout the United States of parents actually coaching their children on ways to be disruptive in school, thereby enhancing their chances of receiving benefits. I know that all this sounds really crazy, but go on-line and do the research for yourself. Just type in �Social Security crazy checks� on your computer.
Now, for some really good news. You�re not going to believe this one. Parents of unruly children may lose their benefits if their children don�t attend school on a regular basis. Ever wonder why some extremely disruptive students even bother to come to school? Ever wonder why they are usually the ones sitting in the back of the class with no books, no paper or pencils and they seem to be very disinterested anything you might have to say? Well guess what, you don�t have to wonder anymore! It�s called the crazy check and it�s good for improving attendance, but bad news for schools.

As you read my writings, always try to remember that the poor people living in impoverished communities are the real victims. They are the ones suffering the most! They see what�s occurring in their neighborhoods, schools and playgrounds first hand. They are the ones who know �the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth!� Please don�t take my word for it! Go out and ask them for yourselves!
There are far too many good people living in blighted areas throughout America. Good people who are afraid to leave their homes at night and even more afraid to allow their children to play outside during the day! Some of the schools in our cities have become so violent and dangerous that many parents have recently opted out of public education and have enrolled their children in on-line educational programs.
Therefore, I am �demanding� that the so called fair minded news media of the world actually go out and talk with the good residents residing in impoverished and blighted communities throughout America. If you are feeling really �lucky,� go out about midnight! Ask the residents, if they fear for their lives and the lives of their family members each and every day. Ask them, how many members of their immediate family and close friends are addicted to alcohol, tobacco and drugs! Also, ask them how many unnecessary funerals have that personally attended in the last twelve months? Do not be surprised when they tell you that what Mr. Traina has been spewing about the crime problems plaguing their communities is �the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth!�

QUESTION: �Mr. Traina how do you know all these things about what it�s like to live in blighted and impoverished communities across America?�
ANSWER: I have been interviewing people living in those communities for the past thirty years. Imagine that, a so called lily-white racist white guy who actually took the time to talk and listen to people of all races, creeds and colors living in impoverished communities from all across America.
FACT: Good parents know that structure, discipline and respect for authority must start in the home or it will never end up in the schools! Additionally, children need to be on a fixed schedule: a time to go to bed, a time to get up, a time to play, a time to go to school, a time to do homework and a time to study.
FACT: Being a former substance abuse counselor, I know that the very first step in the process is to stop blaming others and simply admit to yourself that you have a problem. Crime is a major problem plaguing blighted and impoverished communities throughout America. It is time to admit to ourselves and the rest of the world that we have a problem. Only at that point, can we begin to work together as �one nation under God� to solve the crime problem in America.
REQUEST: My fellow Americans, I am hereby formally requesting that we stop bashing one another and actually begin to do something to solve the crime problems facing this great nation?

The cold hard facts about publicly funded schools throughout America today.
Publicly funded schools come in all shapes, sizes and colors, just like the students, teachers, school administrators and support personnel that attend, teach and work in them each and every day. When I use the term �publicly funded schools,� I am talking about all schools across America that are funded by United States taxpayers.
Charter schools and magnet schools also fall into this category. Most public schools are open to the general public, however, some of the better performing public, charter and magnet schools now require entrance examinations, student and parent involvement, a student commitment to excellence, as well as, a student and family commitment to participate in a variety of community related activities. These schools also require that their teachers are well-seasoned, better educated (typically holding Master�s and/or Doctoral Degrees) and come with a proven track record of teaching excellence.
Evidence that some schools in America are achieving their goals is obvious to everyone involved and easy to judge, simply because their graduation rates are typically above the ninetieth percentile. The majority of their students go on to complete college, as well as, post-graduate programs. Their students typically return to their respective communities to become successful entrepreneurs, doctors, lawyers and active community leaders. That is exactly what happens when students are allowed to learn and teachers are allowed to teach in safe, family and community oriented learning environments.
Sadly, this has not the case for so many publicly funded schools throughout America, particularly in impoverished and blighted communities such as New Orleans, Detroit, Chicago, Washington D.C., Los Angeles, Tulsa, Milwaukee, Minneapolis, Baltimore and Akron to name just a few.
These are the cold, hard facts about working in and sending your children off to publicly funded schools in America today. The legal definition for �serious bodily injury� is something that every parent should know, especially if you send your kids to a publicly funded school.
FACT: Serious bodily injury involves a bodily injury that includes a substantial risk of death, unconsciousness, extreme physical pain, protracted and obvious disfigurement, or protracted loss or impairment of the function of a bodily member, organ, or mental faculty.
Now for the real ugly truth, the serious bodily injury clause is what public school systems throughout the United States of America use to determine whether or not a crime has been committed against a fellow student, teacher, school administrator or school staff member. This same clause is also used to determine whether or not a student should be shipped off to an alternative school.
Educators like me love to break things down for their students, so please permit me this one opportunity to examine this legal clause more closely? Primarily because this legal clause just happens to affect every student, teacher, school administrator and school support staff member working in publicly funded schools across America.

The question here for teachers and bus drivers is who is going to take over teaching the class or even more critically, who is going to be in charge of driving the bus? Let�s all pray as teachers, school administrators, support staff and students that someone hears us groaning down the hallway! I just thank God that as a Certified School Psychologist that I never had to use the boy�s restroom! I was always afraid to go in there and truthfully it wasn�t just the awful fumes that flowed out of the doors and into the hallways that intimidated me, for one reason or another many students got injured in school restrooms.
Serious bodily injury involves a bodily injury that consists of protracted and obvious disfigurement! Heck, I don�t know about the rest of you guys, but I am already ugly enough and I for do not need any type of protracted and/or obvious disfigurements! Truthfully, Mother Nature is already doing enough of that kind of stuff on me already.

FACT: When I was in junior high and high school, kids would go into the restroom to smoke, talk or use the restroom. Today, many students use public school restrooms to set up drug deals because it is so much safer than selling drugs on street corners. Occasionally, the drug dealers will even have the good fortune of having an on-campus Resource Officer unknowingly guarding the door for them.
FACT: In todays sophisticated drug world student drug dealers rarely bring illegal substances on public school campuses (The drug sniffing dogs are everywhere). Instead, they have learned how to use public schools as a means of setting up drug deals that usually occur immediately before or after school, typically in school parking lots or nearby community playgrounds. Sadly, drug dealers have turned many inner city community play grounds into very unsafe havens for young children. Far too many innocent children have been wounded or killed in the crossfire between rival drug dealers and gang bangers, while playing in community parks.

After Cornerstone Charter Abuse Scandal Deepens in Memphis, NAACP Demands Accountability from State and Charter Operators
Cornerstone CEO Sippel What began last fall in Memphis as the corporate reform schoolers' grand experiment to turn over public schools to white charter operators with no accountability for how children are treated, has turned into a nightmare for parents of children at Cornerstone Prep and other less publicized charter chain gangs for black and poor children in Memphis. What began as a charter school abuse story that the local media in Memphis tried to ignore has erupted into deep rage among parents who previously were sweet-talked into sending their children to the total compliance charter schools where children are treated like dangerous inmates. See latest accounts here on former mayor's call for Governor to intervene. A child's words can be powerful. "I started to urinate on myself and I started crying,” said 7-year old Cornerstone student as she addressed the crowd at the podium. That power is multiplied when repeated by other children. "One time I urinated on myself and I had to go really bad,” said another elementary student."I soiled on myself because I tried to raise my hand and he (my teacher) said no,” said another student. Parents are outraged at Cornerstone teachers. The state took over low performing Lester Elementary this year. Since then, student grades are up and they're making the honor roll. That's not the problem. It's teachers not allowing enough bathroom breaks. The school says they've corrected the issue and the kids are allowed 5 bathroom breaks. Parents say that's not true. "It's going beyond saying no, they’re getting physical,” said a parent Lashanna Rogers. “They (teachers) physically stopped her (my daughter) instead of walking with her to the restroom." All of this is taking place as a result of years of Business Roundtable efforts to turn poor public schools over to corporate interests, and today in urban America test scores are used to shut down public schools so they be run for the benefit of corporate welfare artists who are free to operate schools like private prisons, with no accountability to the public. Note that parents must now provide their own transportation if they decide that they do want their children to attend this chain gang school: After weeks of complaints about Cornerstone Preparatory Academy in Binghamton, the state NAACP will ask legislators to pass a law allowing charter schools to be closed for more than financial instability and poor academic performance. "There needs to be some other options for the ways we hold charters accountable," said Rev. Keith Norman, president of the Memphis branch of the NAACP.The issue is on the state NAACP agenda and will be presented to lawmakers in February, Norman said. "You can't allow charters to exist in our community, to come in and set up shop and not be accountable beyond fiscal and performance-related issues." Cornerstone Prep, a ministry of Christ United Methodist Church, opened this fall in Lester School in Binghamton under the authority of the state-run Achievement School District. It serves children in pre-K through third grade. Next year, it will take over the fourth, fifth and sixth grades. In 2014-2015, it will run the entire pre-K-8 school.
POLICE Stop Dozens of BLACK TEENS in Downtown Detroit Clash!

Detroit — City boosters hoped a downtown rampage by a horde of teenagers Saturday night wouldn't dissuade visitors from returning to the city.
Nearly 100 teens descended on downtown, picking fights, running into businesses and being chased by police by car and on foot.
In all, Detroit police stopped 76 teens ages 14 to 17 and five adults in their 20s, said spokeswoman Sgt. Eren Stephens. Eight teens with outstanding warrants were detained by police.
No one was hurt in the incident, which left workers and customers jittery.
Stephens said the clash apparently involved some type of dispute or rivalry among neighborhood youths.
But residents and community leaders took the brouhaha in stride. "I think those incidents are isolated," said Ida Jackson, of Detroit. "It's not representative of Detroit."
The chaos occurred near the Motown Winter Blast, the popular seasonal event at Campus Martius. It wasn't known whether the event had drawn the combatants to the area.
But police said none of the disturbance occurred at Winter Blast and didn't affect it.
Police didn't boost security for the Blast on Sunday.
Representatives for Detroit Mayor Dave Bing would not comment about the commotion or arrests Sunday.
Winter Blast producer Jon Witz said the incident didn't seem to affect attendance on Sunday. The three-day event attracted 85,000 people, including 30,000 on Sunday, he said.
Malik Shabazz, a community activist who belonged to a gang as a youth, criticized the teens' behavior but said it's a consequence of the plight of city neighborhoods.
The neighborhoods have been neglected by city and state leaders, leaving youths with little structure in their lives other than what is provided by troublesome gangs, he said.
"Children want attention, want structure, want rules," he said. "If they're not getting those things from society, they will act out. The streets will give what their broken families fail to give."
The Saturday night disturbance was centered at Michigan and Cass downtown.
At one point, teens wearing ski masks entered American Coney Island on Lafayette and began smacking customers and tossing chairs, according to broadcast reports by WDIV (Channel 4) on Saturday night.
A restaurant worker called police, who responded in large numbers.
"Things happen. It's one of those things," restaurant owner Grace Keros told The Detroit News. "We're fortunate no one got hurt."
The police chased the youths along several city blocks. Except for the eight teens with outstanding warrants, the others were released to their parents, said Stephens.
Among those attending Winter Blast on Sunday were Andrew and Amy Frazier of Riverview.
The couple, who ate at American Coney Island on Sunday, said they visit the city once a month and never feel unsafe.
As far as the hooligans, Andrew Frazier was philosophical. "You get crazy people anywhere," he said.
