Guam - By a show of hands the decision was unanimous by Guam republicans for Presidential candidate Mitt Romney during today's GOP convention at the Sheraton Laguna resort in Tamuning. Guam will now send nine delegates to the Republican National Convention in Tampa, Florida in August to pledge their support for Romney.
The delegates include Governor Eddie Calvo, Minority leader Senator Frank Blas Jr., State Chairman Jess Torres, National Committeeman Peter Alexcis Ada, and National Committeewoman Donna Jones. Resolutions were presented and approved during the convention to allow these five to automatically serve as Guam delegates. Republicans today also voted for Telo Taitague, Martha Ruth, Lawrence Kasperbauer and Mike Benito to be part of the delegation.
Governor Calvo announced Friday that he supports candidate Romney. Romney's son, Matt gave the keynote address during the convention stating he is here to represent his dad, and will ensure his father takes the time to visit the territory. More than 200 republicans from each village district, except Merizo, attended today's convention.

Sen. Sam Mabini - 96 votes
Michael McPherson - 64 votes
Antonio Aquininoc - 62 votes
Joanne Camacho - withdrew her nomination*
The GOP also voted for it's new state party officers. The new chairman is Mike Benito, First Vice Chair is Louisa Cabuhat, Second Vice Chair is Victor Cruz, Secretary is Troy Torres, Treasurer is Evelyn Casil, Sergeant of Arms is Benny Pinaula, National committeeman is Dave Sablan and National committeewoman is Donna Jones.
