The Democrats who run Washington are no strangers to tall tales (“if you like your plan, keep your plan,” “we’re not going to spend any more money than we’re taking in,” and so on), but their latest attacks on the Republican jobs budget and its plan to protect and preserve Medicare for seniors are little more than “a big, scary lie,” says the Union Leader.
The non-partisan Congressional Budget Office (CBO) says Medicare will go bankruptwithin the next decade unless Washington takes action to preserve it. In other words, if we do nothing – as proposed in President Obama’s 2012 budget – we’re guaranteeing future benefit cuts for seniors and more debt for our children and grandchildren.
Here’s a look at the two plans: on the left, the House-passed Path to Prosperity which would protect and preserve Medicare for seniors. And on the right, President Obama’s proposal:Path to Prosperity: Protect and Preserve Medicare for American Seniors
No changes and no disruptions for anyone over the age of 55.
Future Medicare beneficiaries will have access to the same health care options as Members of Congress.
Stop Washington from raiding Medicare funding for other costly programs.
Ensure the costs of junk lawsuits are not passed on in the form of higher prices.
Ensure lower income Americans get more support.
Eliminate the “rationing board” created by ObamaCare.
Bottom line: this plan saves Medicare.
President Obama: Do Nothing, Empower Unelected “Rationing Board” to Force Cuts
Do nothing.
Unelected “rationing board” of bureaucrats forces hundreds of billions of dollars in cuts …
…in addition to the Medicare cuts Democrats already used to finance ObamaCare (“havoc and chaos in health care for seniors”).
“[T]he political rationing of care for the elderly, as now occurs in Britain” will become more likely – or “many doctors and hospitals drop out of Medicare” altogether, says the Wall Street Journal.
Medicare goes bankrupt within 10 years.

Please continue to highlight that the dems have in fact put cuts to medicare with the new healthcare law. The truth out in front will be the only way to get the public on your side. We need to see this information put into commercials on all stations to target those who do not do their homework and only listen to sound bites. The benefits to Ryan's plan needs to flood the airways to counter Obama's countless spin on the truth.

Speaker Boehner, As an American citizen I demand that congress put a halt to the reckless spending that is going on. I would rather have cuts now than nothing later. More messages will be sent by the American people in the next election to any and all who will not keep the promises that have been made to us. I emplore you to lead the house in a manner you promised and that voters want. Thank you for your time. Don Watson

Government on both sides of the aisles have raided Medicare for years and done nothing to insure its solvency. While the "Path to Prosperity" sounds good on paper, it still hangs the elderly and disabled out to dry with "vouchers" that will ultimately cost lives in the end. People need to read the fine print....

And this is why Republicans were getting their asses kicked by their own supporters at their Town Hall Meetings when they were brave or foolish enough to have them. The people are not stupid. They understand what you're trying to do. We understand all to well that you don't give a damn about the American people who make less than 6 figures and aren't even aware of us that make less than 5.

Stop them in their tracks! America has had enough of their lies and devious ways! How could they destroy our country and it's people? This is Socialistic and we need to keep our America the way our forefathers intended! If they hate the way America is run..........they need to leave! I agree with C S comment...get this out so people see what scum they really are!

I have never taken a handout from the Government. America is the land of equal opportunity, not the land of equal things for everybody. I have saved, worked hard, and invested wisely. I pay my own way. When I was a kid, I looked at the numbers for social security and medicare and doubted they would still be around when I retired. I have provided for myself instead of relying on the Government to do it for me. Failure to plan is planning to fail. If you counted on the Government to take care of you, rather than taking care of yourself, shame on you. Don't blame the Government. They are inept at best. It is the nature of politics. You've seen it all your life from both sides of the aisle. So, why are you surprised that you are getting screwed now?
Robin Griepentrog commented on 4/26/2011
We are facing some huge issues that need to be addressed and fixed, Social Security is just one of them. Republicans have a plan to do this and we must get the job done. We cannot and must not go down the same path to destruction that we have been on. Paul Ryan's "Path to Prosperity" budget proposal is just what we need. We ask you to fight for this plan and do not back down. The time is now!

I remember just a few years ago, congressmen Boehner was disciplined for handing out checks to other republican representative of 5000 and 10000 dollar checks from a pharmaceutical lobbyists on the house floor, which was the only thing Boehner did wrong ,"should of handed them out in the hallway" Boehner 's Path to His Prosperity via lobbyists check. from Walker to Boehner they are bought and paid for ! but should be working for the American people not the medical industry.

It truly is enough of this back and forth, he said, she said, Jada, Jada. Draw the line in the sand and get on the news networks and call them all out, by name. There just appears to be a lack of focus, with CORE issues, that will assist in curing many ills. First, is the demonstrative daily operational cost of government. It was never, ever intended to be, The Largest Employer In The Planet, Cris Crossing America and Wrapping around the Globe. Our Present Government must become a True Speck of its present self and become A Small Efficient, Unobtrusive Government, as it was intended to be. Second, we will never have Nation Wide Employment, Unless all of extremism Regulatory Government goes through a Historic, EPIC REFORM, that deregulates, DE funds and dismantles, regulatory alliance, that set squarely on a plethora of entrepreneurship's, businesses and industries, that would potentially grace our Nation in ever level of our economy..Third is with regulatory reform, will come a massive work force of Earners, in good paying jobs and good paying careers.. The Hands Down, best Welfare Programs, Health Care Programs, Retirement Programs, Education Programs, Savings Programs and Social Programs, ever devised, is that of Good Paying Jobs and Good Paying Careers, in a complete plethora of entrepreneurship's, businesses and industries, scattered across a Nation, in every state.. This is assured, by a Deregulated, Reformed government, the embraces and champions Industry, because they grasp the in-depth massive pyramids of benefits, that comes to a Nations Economic, Financial and Social Well Being..for many, many generations to come. Our Elected Officials, god bless them all, have to get to the Core of this Nations ills, and start cash flows, tax bases With independent work forces of Earners.. Earners the Spend, Purchase, Own, Borrow, Save, Educate, Donate and are able, capable to meet or exceed any requirements for them selves or that of any dependents. A work force of Earners, that are free and unencumbered. They support a Small Efficient Unobtrusive Government, with a FLAT TAX..

We have a stark choice this next election. We'll either elect a President and Congress that will continue to make America an "opportunity" society or we'll elect a socialist who wants to turn us into a "fair" society. After four years of a "socialist utopia" and out-of-control government spending, look at our country today: Still suffering from The Great Recession, 8 million Americans out of work with another 17 underemployed, record bankruptcies and foreclosures, the national debt almost doubled, more Americans in poverty than ever, and a nation that's lost faith in its government.

Dear Mr. Speaker, To me this is simple and straight forward, but more needs to be done. Obamacare is a horrifying piece of legislation and it needs to be scrapped. PERIOD. We must care for our aging population but this will be difficult with things the way they are. I don't see enough in the way of controlling costs and regulation of the healthcare industry. Why? Oh and Sir...Next "deal" with Mr. O...Stipulate NO Signing Statements! No reniging on the deal. Oh and No Czars of any type...This isn't Imperial Russia!
William Blakeslee commented on 4/26/2011
How can you say that Obama's plan is to do nothing? The Independent "Rationing Board" as you term it, would do something that is completely necessary, and would save costs. The Ryan plan would cost me much much more as I am a little under 55. We need a Single Payer healthcare system in order to stop medical costs from bleeding the nation dry.
Al Clarke commented on 4/26/2011
Boehner did it! He spoke out about oil prices, the people paying more... then Obama's prompter set the hook. Now, the news media reports Obama agrees with Boehner about the need for less support for oil companies--those greedy so and sos Boehner you just had to say something Rep/GOP you do NOT have to sound off each time the prompters tell Obama what to say IF-- the GOP blows this one- we are under the thumb wake up think I feel like I'm talking to my grandchildren about riding a bike

Mr. Speaker: We need a lot more of this messaging to get out the truth here. I would advise strengthening the message by pointing out that Obama's "cuts" hit today's seniors while the Ryan reform maintains current and near seniors without change forever. Can't believe this point is ignored so often. Also, the Democrat's voucher claim is completely false and easily refuted. It's just a recycled talking point that shows they have no grasp of the details of the plan. Two final suggestions: first, please make sure the GOP caucus spends a lot of time learning the details of this plan and how to defend it at townhalls, etc. Can't have them flubbing the facts on YouTube. Second, I'd take Ryan and a team of two or three members with a great grasp of this plan on the road to visit as many districts as possible. Ryan holding a townhall in any district besides his own will make local headlines and allow folks a chance to hear it from the horse's mouth. Ryan is the best resource you have in this debate, use him! Thanks, WT

Speaker Bohner, 1. You promised to do "everything in your power" to stop ObamaCare, yet failed to do so in the FY2010 budget battle. 2. You claimed to negotiate 38 billion in cuts in the same budget fight, where 60 billion were demanded, yet they amounted to less than 350 million in actual savings. 3, You are now using the rhetoric and flawed logic of the opposition, saying that the oil companies are not paying their "fair share" with regard to taxes, which if enacted will result in even higher fuel costs. Mr Bohener, you may be a great congressman, but you are a great disappointment as Speaker. We need someone who can reverse the damage done to our country during the last congress with a clear sense of urgency and purpose, and use every tool available to defend our country, constitution, and way of life. Unfortunately you have failed, on several occasions to demonstrate that you have the abilities to accomplish this in your current role as Speaker of the House. Due to the dire situation our Republic is in, and the immediacy required to correct it, I regretfully as you to step aside as Speaker, and find a suitable replacement. James Velasco
