WASHINGTON – Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairman Reince Priebus released the following statement today regarding the January unemployment numbers:
“Today’s jobs report showing the fewest creation of jobs in the last four months demonstrates that the status quo under Barack Obama simply hasn’t worked and reinforces the need to reduce the deficit while rolling back the failed policies of the past two years. The addiction to big government spending exhibited by President Obama and Congressional Democrats has proven not only to be ineffective, but an obstacle to sustainable job growth as evidenced by the 21 consecutive months of unemployment at or above 9%. Democrats claim to be committed to job-creation and reducing the deficit, yet in the past two weeks alone they have voted against Republican spending cuts, and in defense of their job-destroying health care law. With another trillion dollar budget deficit looming on the horizon and job-creation remaining flat, it is critical that President Obama join Republicans in taking the necessary steps to put our country back on a path to prosperity.”
