Defense Secretary Robert Gates and Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Mike Mullen testified on the Defense Department's fiscal year 2012 budget proposal. Secretary Gates cautioned against making deeper spending cuts than already proposed. Other topics included aid to Egypt, troop levels in Afghanistan and Iraq, and a sexual assault lawsuit filed against the Pentagon by 17 female veterans.
