(VIDEO) Michele Bachmann has no concept of Slavery and People want her for President Ekkkkkkkkkkkkk.......

Anderson Cooper Wallops Bachmann For 'Flunking History'

Michele Bachmann was the subject of Anderson Cooper's "Keeping Them Honest" segment last night, for her comments last weekend that to America's diversity-conscious first settlers, "it didn't matter the color of their skin, it didn't matter their language, it didn't matter their economic status."
The segment was subtitled "Flunking History," which Cooper explained was because Bachmann's comments "are either a deliberate rewriting of our history, or signs that she has a shaky grasp on our history."
In her remarks, Bachmann also said that "we also know that the very founders that wrote those documents worked tirelessly until slavery was no more in the United States."
Cooper noted that she declined to appear on the show to defend her remarks, and didn't respond to a request for comment.

Has she returned the $250,000 in evil socialist farm subsidies yet?

  • If I run into him on the street I'm gonna give Anderson a big hug for this.

Grossly unfair to conservatives to keep referring to Ms. Bachmann as a conservative. That syllogism won't hunt. Now if you wanted to compare her to someone who is driven by an ideology that allows her to ignore selectively the reality of the world we all live in as for example do the folks in the flat earth society, I would support that.

It should be obvious to all that Ms. Bachmann's thinking and public presentation bears no resemblance to Edmund Burke let alone Bruce Bartlett. In that regard, Anderson Cooper is doing us all a great favor in exposing her for the empty-headed ninny she really is. Katie Couric, however, tried to do the same thing a couple of years ago and look how that turned out. Unfortunately, as a country we are still burdened with too many folks who subscribe to the political party of P.T. Barnum. "This way to the egress!"

  • Progressive Conjecture and void of any real facts.........

  • We know you've been watching Glenn Beck.

Facts only make people like Michelle Bachmann ANGRY!

She may not know history, but that child prostitution "babysitting service" Barchmann once ran is paying big dividends with Faux' Gretchen Carlson.

What happened to the "list" dude - did Ugg's mighty club frighten him off? I honestly was looking for his response.

Yes, facts matter. Unfortunately, facts don't matter to the GOP/Teabagger party.

  • Really....is it a fact 'democracy' is not mention in our Constitution or the separation of Church and State?

    Remember Rule 14, people.

What's this "slavery". There wasn't any slavery. Oh, you must mean the "Atlantic Triangular Trade".

  • You are right 'slavery' can not be found in the Constitution of 1787, do you want a cookie?

  • What exactly are you arguing?

It would be interesting to see the major news network readers, radio talk show hosts, politicians in congress on both sides, the executive branch, and many of the commenters here take an intensive test on our country from its start through today. Most are not even aware that the democratic party was the party of slavery up to and including their break to the Conferacy. They were willing to go to war over it. When they lost and came back in as democrats, they spent the next hundred years fighting against the rights now in the constitution for blacks to vote. Truman won reelection because the democrats split on the issue of segregation. FDR knew well as did Wilson before about his parties ties to the KKK and torture and lynching by democrats in the south protected by the democrat leadership in the states. Neither would take on their party to save the lives of blacks. Truman, a vet, forced the integration in the military AFTER WWII. LBJ, who many believe pushed through civil rights legislation to show what he could accomplish that JFK could not or would not tackle in hs own party, had the guts to get it done. Soon after that, abortion was legalized with Roe and the democrats became the party for abortion. It is also interesting to see that despite being only about 13% of the total population, blacks make up a much higher percentage of abortions. Sanger, an ardent supporter of the abortion of blacks and those she saw as lower classes, is of course honored now by the democratic party. We note the latest outrage in Philidelphia of the abortion mill doctor who was indicted for killing babies not in the womb, but after delivery, but sliting their neck spinal cord which has to be very painful. Most of his patients were poor blacks. Most of the abortion centers are in black neighborhoods. This doctor alone may have killed hundreds of babies of color after they were out of the womb. This is exactly the legislation that Obama as an Illinois state senator fought to keep legal, the killing outside the womb.

So I would be more impressed with Cooper if he did some very serious reporting on actual history of a lot more than this type of fact and not the cleaned up version to support democrats. He will never do this type of report on Obama no matter what the slip or error with this much venom.

It is fact that many of the founders were slave owners. It was not viewed by many as even an issue at that time. If anyone had tried to stop it during the constitutional convention, there would not have been a constitution at all and we would have probably not had a country. Lincoln believed that blacks would never be able to compete and so planned to have free slaves sent elsewhere with Liberia his first choice. He showed himself to be very reluctant to free the slaves. During the war, he only freed those who lived in rebelling states. It did not take his party long to figure out how to use blacks with 40 acres and a mule enticement to vote. Now, democrats use blacks and seldom do much to improve their lives. After spending trillions over the decades on so called war on poverty, in many ways the plight of the black man is worse than before it started as the family center, once strong in black families, has been destroyed. Little has been done to stop illegal immigration even though most studies showing the number of jobs they have taken have been at the expense in large percentage from blacks. The democrats have done little to really combat drug use and it continues to devastate the black community even to the shooting of kids in drive by shootings in many of our citites. Democrats have blocked any attempt to allow blacks to have choice in education condemning them to inner city schools. In Washington, they do not send their kids to those schools, but block inner city blacks from escaping. the own to much to the teacher union and they have blacks in the hip pocket for votes.

  • @Great Post--but you forgot to blame 'Bush' for progressives inabilities to understand history.

  • YES! DUNG BEETLE IS BACK.

I was getting bored with your "Critical Thinker" act. Welcome back, loser.

  • So many, many words! And so much time you spent writing them! Why then can I not figure out what you are saying, even after reading through this screed twice?

My friend, you need to learn to be much, much more concise, lest your point (whatever it is) be lost in a whirlwind of words.

  • Never been concise. Most in political positions would fail test on founding fathers, constitution, history.
Most at CNN and other networks would also. Might be interesting to see how Bachman did on a test of those topics versus Cooper.
Little history of democratic party that most of the networks support is very very bad toward blacks starting at the time of the constitution convention through today. Never have quite figured out have the democratic party gains support over 90% when they have done so little if anything to actually improve their lives as a people. Most do not know enough history to even see that and Cooper at CNN, now so interested in history will never reveal this entire sad history.

  • I think a lot of people are aware of that history, that southern Democrats supported segregation and such, then after LBJ and Kennedy, a lot of them bolted to the Republican Party, especially after the "Southern Strategy"

  • +1

  • He had no point. That was just a rather amateurish attempt to do what AC was talking about.

  • Many of us do know American history...from your post it is obvious that some don't. The method you are using does not work anymore "my friend"..and let me tell you how a black man once said it..."" A black man voting for a republican is like a chicken voting for Col. Harland Sanders""..do you know who that guy was?

What ever happened to fair minded decent politicians from Minnesota? I'm willing to bet that a lot of people form Minnesota are longing for people like Gov. Jesse Vantura instead of people like Rep. Michele Bachmann or Tim Pawlenty.

It's hilarious to see the trolls come out of the woodwork to try to defend their "beautiful Bachmann's" error-filled view of history. It is a compendium of fantasies they would like to be true, but just can't seem to find the facts to support it. Instead, they spend their time telling each other it IS true, those mean old liberal professors just don't want to admit it.

What is the deal with inflammatory headlines on the internet? What I saw in that video was a recitation of facts, not a "wallop." This is part of the reason we can't have a civil debate anymore - a simple disagreement with exchange of facts becomes a "brawl" or a "wallop." It's also part of the reason no one in corporate media wants to do their job of holding people accountable, because when they do it is portrayed with this violent language. That's what journalists are supposed to do - present facts. Sometimes facts contradict what people say. This is not controversial, or violent, it is discourse.

I've seen Josh Marhsall many times on TV, he does not seem like an antagonistic or violent person. Why does he regularly allow headlines like this on TPM?

I hope if someone disagrees with this comment, they don't "slam" or "pound" me.

Hey now, some of the New England states, such as Connecticut, let their black population "vote" on a black governor even as far back as the 1700's. Of course, it was treated a bit like letting kids play dressup, condescendingly.

Watching Hardball & Christ Mathews just handed the Tea Party's Sal Russ his ass on a platter. The guy couldn't answer basic questions about the history of slavery in the US. He blatantly avoided the question to keep from embarrassing Bachmann. What a tool!

    BY THE WAY....

What is with this "The American People" that keeps turning up in every argument and comment from the right? No one has ever asked my opinion. Aren't the opposing voices American People too?

  • Whenwillthisnightmareend Just now
Michelle Bachmann for president in 2012! now that Sarah Palin's prospects have diminished, the stupid Bimbo party needs another "competent" candidate, preferably one that can appeal to the feminists in this country.

  • Mickey Bitsko Just now
Folks are always shouting about the need for third parties. Well, the G0P has become so extremist that I think a case can be made that they became a third party this past fall.
