9-year-old victim of deadly rampage identified

TUCSON - The identity of the 9-year-old tragically killed in this morning's deadly rampage is Christina Taylor Greene.
Family says she was vibrant, excited about life, and she was the "best daughter in the world."

Born on September 11, 2001, Greene was excited about the political process, was on the student government, and went to the Giffords event today to learn more about the political process, family members say.
Greene attended Mesa Verde Elementary School. She was the only girl on the CDO baseball team - she loved the sport, as well as horseback riding and swimming.

_KellyO tweets
Mother of 9 yr old says her slain daughter was "proud" being born on Sept 11, 2001. Only girl on all boys baseball team. Loved ballet.
Mother of slain child "they tried their best to save her but they just couldn't." "I want her memory to live on." "Face of hope."

Heartbreaking irony...this sweet little girl was born on the day of our most infamous terrorist attack; she died at the hands of a homegrown terrorist. I weep for the future of our children...

I struggle with the "everything happens for a reason" philosophy, but is her birthday *really* a coincidence?  If we don't find a way to come together instead of railing at each other apart, I fear for the future our beloved country.

Bless the soul of this sweet, innocent little girl and somehow please comfort the aching hearts of her loving family and friends.  May she rest in peace.

My heart goes out to this little girl's family. She is so beautiful, and had so much to live for. I can't imagine the heartbreak and sorrow they must be feeling or the shock they felt when they found out she was one of the victims. May they find comfort and love in this time of horrible tragedy in their lives, and know that the community, and the world ache for their loss as well.

I wonder if it is possible that we can channel our shock into a way of learning from it. I believe we must be careful not to respond with anger or more violence. I pray for the individuals, for your nation (which I love and admire) and for us all. God bless.

I told him that God did not allow her to die, it's the work of devil, God cannot control the bad people, but told him that we should never ask God why it happened, we may cry, we may weep, but i know that God can control where Christina's going, yes she's going to heaven and there there's no violence, no hatred, no killings, and then he started saying that he too wanted to go there, i said yes In His Time...
