Whip Cantor Statement on the U.S. - South Korea Free Trade Agreement

Washington, D.C. – House Republican Whip Eric Cantor (R-VA) today issued the following statement supporting the announcement of the U.S. – South Korea Free Trade Agreement:
“The free-trade agreement announced today between the United States and South Korea is long overdue and an important step for our economy and for getting people back to work . Not only will it result in more opportunities for American companies to compete and create jobs, but it will also ensure that America will continue to be a leader in the global economy by making exports more competitive in the region.
“Exactly one year ago, Republicans offered a ‘No Cost Jobs Plan’ that would have halted the deluge of President Obama’s tax increases and enacted free-trade agreements including this one. I am pleased that another one of our initiatives has been adopted, and hope that this is a sign that we can finally move forward with the Colombia and Panama trade agreements in the next several months. The new Republican Majority will work to end the economic uncertainty hanging over the private sector so that American businesses, workers, and investors can do what they do best – innovate, compete, and lead.”
