Letter: The super-fast reload

  -

Viewer Joel Wilkins of Florida takes exception to our coverage of new gun legislation. Wilkins writes that limiting the size of a gun magazine wouldn't make us safer:
I shoot competitively in a sport sanctioned by United States Practical Shooting Association or USPSA. It has a world wide affiliate of IPSC. It is primarily a pistol shooting sport which utilizes various types of guns (not weapons). These guns all are semi automatic in nature and use mags to hold the rounds (not bullets). As we often shoot many more times than rounds held in the gun, we must reload. The attached vid link shows one of our top shooters doing a reload. Now that is an extreme example of how fast a mag can get changed but even a novice shooter can, with a little practice, be remarkably quick with a mag change.
Somehow, this video leaves me feeling not even a little better. Though I will say the USPSAwebsite introduced me to a whole new pastime.
