Project will create more than 500 permanent and temporary jobs November 16, 2010 Washington, DC – Nevada Senator Harry Reid today applauded the U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) decision to move Fulcrum’s Sierra BioFuels plant toward the final phase of the DOE loan guarantee program. When approved, the project will create 53 full-time jobs and more than 450 temporary jobs. “I thank the Department of Energy for advancing Fulcrum’s loan guarantee application one step closer to approval. Using Recovery Act funds to guarantee the loan for this important project will help create jobs and strengthen Nevada’s economy,” Reid said. “In addition to putting Nevadans back to work, this plant will take a commonsense approach to creating clean energy and reducing our dependence on foreign oil by processing household garbage.” Located 20 miles east of Reno in Storey County, the Sierra BioFuels Plant will produce annually 10.5 million gallons of ethanol and 16 megawatts of renewable electricity. |
